My one and only resolution for 2021 was to read at least 1,000 pages a month. It could be any reading material. The only rule was that I could only count the pages when I finished the entire piece.
I far exceeded the goal.
- 94 books
- 23,479 pages
- 1956.57 average pages per month
But that is not the point of this post.
I thought that Reading was the overall goal, but I gained something else.
The ability to Finish.
Let me back up. I am the type of person who enjoys the journey. I am not results oriented. The process is much more meaningful.
This means that typically I have tons of unfinished projects and that I am always on the hunt for the next project even when I’m in the middle of the current one.
I noticed today that I am being persistent in finishing the book I am reading before starting the next one.
My To Do list includes “Finish the necklace” rather than “gather the materials for the next beading project.”
Current project in progress
I hadn’t set any resolutions for 2022. But now that I see I have unexpected results from 2021, I’m thinking one or two might lead me in new directions.
I’ll let you know!
